2011 CADILLAC CTS COUPE INFO ON MOTOR WORLD
The 2011 CTS Coupe uses a dramatic design. Cadillac did more than just strip the rear doors from the sedan. The CTS Coupe is 2 inches shorter in length and 2 inches shorter in height, yet has a 2 inch wider rear track. The back glass, nestled in the angular rear of the car, seems almost horizontal. The CTS Coupe uses the same direct injection 3.6-liter V-6 available in the sedan, producing 304 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Likewise, the car gets the same six speed automatic with its oh so aggressive sport mode. The 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe is the latest addition to the lineup of Cadillac's best-selling cars. The 2-door coupe joins 4-door sedan and wagon body styles, which see no major changes for 2011. The coupe seats 4 while other versions seat 5.
The coupe comes as the 3.6. The 3.0 uses a 270-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. The 3.6 has a 304-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on 3.0 sedans and 3.6 coupes. It's offered as a credit option on 3.6 sedans. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on all wagons and 3.6 sedans while remaining optional on the 3.0 sedan.Modern style, sporty behavior, and a good combination of features, size, and price--it's a solid package. The CTS Coupe kicks the sport up a notch without sacrificing too much in the way of practicality, and continues to deliver excellent value. The larger wheels of the performance package cars, shod with 245/19 (front) and 275/19 (rear) ContiSport Contact 2 summer peformance tires, also add some of the grip and quick-transitioning ability to the mix.The Coupe is equipped standard with the 3.6-liter, 304-horsepower direct-injection V-6 engine that's an upgrade option in the sedan. Both six-speed manual and automatic versions will be available.
The car still has the handle-less door openers, a touch borrowed from the Cadillac XLR. The exhaust still comes out the center rear of the car from two trapezoidal ports. It cuts a striking figure. The audio system includes the usual sources, such as iPod integration, onboard hard drive storage, and satellite radio. For terrestrial radio, the CTS Coupe gives the driver the ability to pause the broadcast for up to 20 minutes, an innovative feature introduced with the CTS sedan. The combination of hardware and touchscreen controller, which let us use the best option for keyboard or menus is simply amazing. The front fascia features some detail changes compared to the CTS Sedan, such as enlarged openings for the brake cooling vents. The rear fascia adds a center-exit exhaust and unique diamond cut-style mesh lower grilles. But the best thing about the navigation system is its live traffic feature. The transmission also includes a manual mode, and shifts quickly on command. But instead of paddles, Cadillac put shift buttons on the back of the spokes, not a great location for sport driving. When in sport mode, the transmission recognized our aggressive driving, downshifting to very low gears and holding them, maximizing power. But it was also perceptive enough to tell when we settled into more laid back driving, letting the gears run all the way up to six.
